"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;......."
Within this post I will not attempt to list every case where the Koran and Islam have been treated with extreme favoritism relative to the Bible and Christianity by our government. I want to point out an obvious double standard. The spreading of Islam by force, dhimmitude, is part of the issue but I will not delve into much at this time but want to interject it for consideration. Our government is aiding this practice
and intent of most Muslims for America. Yes, even the :majority of Muslims in America that our leaders and media bend over constantly to remind us are such good people. Keep in mind that dhimmitude means coercive/forceful conversion to Islam or suffer tremendous hardship or even death. Maybe those in favor of such a practice aren't so benign after all?
We have all heard or read the stories where the Koran was aggressively protected by our government and U.S. servicemen/women were chastised if they even had the appearance of committing some dastardly deed or simple disrespect toward the Koran, Islamic religious symbols or customs. I do not recall any publicized event where a Bible, Christian symbol or custom was defiled and the government prosecuted or disciplined those committing the act(s) with an equal or near equal fervor as it has toward alleged Koran/Islam defilements. If I am wrong please bring it my attention.
The government has gone out of it's way to aggressively protect/apologize and bend over backwards to give the Koran/Islam most highly protected, therefore favored, status compared to Christianity, or any other religion for that matter. I contend that policy is effectively establishing Islam as the only protected religion in the U.S. I believe it is a punishable offense for any military personnel to burn or purposely damage or handle a Koran with disrespect. Is the same true for Bibles or the Book of Mormon? I highly doubt it. Is that not an obvious double standard and violation of the establishment clause ? If one religion is aggressively protected and others are not, is that not establishment at least to some degree? Is any degree of establishment constitutional?
So, what is the correct path to follow? I do not believe the government should be involved in protecting or persecuting any religion though people holding various religious beliefs should have their lives, liberty and property protected equally to others. We call it equal protection under the law which is a good thing, at least in my opinion. I understand the rationale used when protecting the Koran/Islam from defilement but it does violate the establishment clause therefore the practice should be abolished. If the government fears that Muslims will get mad and do us harm if we don't bend over backwards to show we aren't infidels, well, let me just say I think we are way beyond avoiding that charge. Regardless, the constitution should never be violated, no matter how expedient or necessary the reasons may seem for doing so.
It get backs to a simple underlying principle; The government should NEVER pick winners or losers but only be a protector of individual lives, liberty and property with fair and even protection under the law. Subjective application of the law always winds up with someone being chosen as the loser with their natural rights being violated. Some may believe this isn't really an important issue but do some checking and you will find Islam is highly protected and it's followers given protection at the expense of others in many matters. The government, whether intentionally or not, is aiding dhimmitude along quite effectively all in violation of the establishment and equal protection clauses.

I've been wanting to comment on this issue for some time but never got around to it. Now I don't need to!
